picture of Assistant Chief Constable Simon Prince

Simon Prince joined the Police Force as a probationer constable in 1990 and has spent all of his service in Gwent. Most of that time has been spent serving the people of Newport.

All of his 20 years experience has been spent in Gwent Police, serving in every area of the Force in a variety of different roles and ranks.

In 2007, as a Chief Superintendent, Simon was appointed to head up the most significant change programme in the history of Gwent Police which, under his leadership, has positioned the force well for the future. It is being used as a model for many other police forces across the UK who are facing financial cutbacks. His responsibilities are Operational Policing, Crime Investigation, Protective Services, and Neighbourhood Response Policing.

Simon attended the Strategic Command Course in 2010 and in July 2011 was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief Constable.

His strategic responsibilities include territorial policing, crime investigation, specialist operations and protective services.

Simon is married to Church of Wales cleric Heidi, and has a young daughter.

He has a B.A. Honours Degree from the University of Wales and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
