Deputy Chief Constable - Jeff Farrar

Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) Jeff Farrar came to us from our neighbouring South Wales force.

He is educated to post-graduate level, achieving a BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Police Studies in 1998 and more recently (2008) was awarded a Masters in Public Administration.

DCC Farrar joined Gwent Police in 2009 as Assistant Chief Constable taking up the role of DCC in April 2011. He is responsible for Human Resources, Learning & Development, Information Services, Professional Standards, Service Development, Corporate Communications, the Staying Ahead Project, and legal Services.

Jeff was seconded to HMIC in 1999 to assist with the post-Lawrence inspection of the Metropolitan Police Service.  In 2000 he was an integral member of the 'Winning the Race III' diversity inspection.

As Gwent's Assistant Chief Constable Mr Farrar drove a marked improvement in performance. One of his major recent projects has been Licence to Lead, aimed at encouraging officers to use discretion in decision making.
