Director of Resources - Nigel Stephens

Nigel grew up in Cardiff where he attended school before leaving for college in London. He is a member of the Institute of Public Accountancy. Nigel worked in several district general hospitals in Glamorgan before becoming the Director of Finance & Performance for Torfaen Local Health Board, and was then promoted to Deputy Chief Executive in 2007.
The work in the Local Health Board involved partnerships and collaborations with public sector organisations. When the opportunity arose to work with Gwent Police, Nigel joined as Interim Director of Resources in October 2009.
Nigel is now Director of Resources for Gwent Police involved with service transformation. He works with police services and wider public sector partners to deliver change.

Nigel is involved in steering information technology collaboration work with South Wales police, and is a board member of Shared Resource Services, an IT organisation made up of local authorities and public service bodies in Gwent. He chairs the Gwent G7 Public Sector Call Handling project.
Nigel also sits on the board of GIFT, the Gwent Independent Film Trust.
