Chief Constable Carmel Napier

Chief Constable Carmel Napier heads the senior management team and is responsible for:

  • the direction and control of the force
  • management of the budget and use of funds to deliver the objectives and targets set out in the force's strategy for the next three years.

The Chief Constable is accountable to the Gwent Police Authority and is the person directly responsible to the courts for police operations. She is also a member of each of our five local service boards. She sits on the Gwent Local Resilience Forum and chairs Gwent Area Scouts.
