Response Policing
Response Policing is headed by Chief Superintendent Paul Symes
Response officers are responsible for attending the most urgent calls
for police service throughout Gwent. Response officers are stationed
at four strategically placed hubs:
Blackwood
Cwmbran (includes a sub hub in Monmouth)
Maindee
Tredegar.
These locations are for officers to be book on for duty, be briefed, tasked and pick up a vehicle. They then deploy to cover all areas of Gwent in readiness to respond to calls.
Response Policing also includes Silver Command where Chief Inspectors are on duty 24-hours a day to respond to critical incidents and firearm incidents
At least one Chief Inspector is on duty in this role at any one time. They are based at HQ in Croesyceiliog are mobilised across the Force area in accordance with demand.
The Silver commanders are responsible for
- Taking command of critical incidents and firearms incidents.
- Managing the Force’s resources effectively, in conjunction with the
Force Control Room and local supervisors.
- Monitoring Force-wide availability of resources.
Response Policing also includes the Custody and the Communication Suite
(Call Centre, Force Control Room and the Demand Management and Tasking
Unit).
