Volunteer Police Cadets
Since March 2010 Gwent Police have been introducing Volunteer Police Cadets for the first time in its history.
The Cadets have been aged between 16-17 years old and have been taking part in an 18-24 month scheme aimed at developing themselves as individuals and assisting their local communities.
The Cadets have been involved in a variety of local issues, being supervised by Neighbourhood Officers they have been involved in policing the National Eisteddfod, attending the launch of the Gwent Drink Drive Campaign, the opening of a memorial at the site for the former Six Bells Coal Mine as well as assisting with the Ryder Cup.
Part of the Scheme includes classroom based discussions about police matters, meeting staff from various police departments and physical activity such as drill and officer safety training.
Police cadets are already working in Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen and Caerphilly are launching their very own Cadets in Summer 2011.
Unfortunately, the application stage has now closed - but if you are 16 or 17 years old, live in the Gwent area and you would like further information on the next round of recruitment in Gwent, then please contact, Specials and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Emily Godsell on: 01633 247911
