Appeal for information after theft on Bus, Newport

Police are appealing for information regarding a theft believed to have occurred on the 28B bus on...

Police are appealing for information regarding a theft believed to have occurred on the 28B bus on Caerleon Road (travelling from the bus station to Caerleon) on Wednesday April 11th, 2012.
At approximately 4.45pm the female victim was sat behind a woman police want to speak to in connection with the theft.
The victim got off the bus at the top of Caerleon Road close to Junction 25 leaving her bag on her seat. The woman, who was sitting with a small child in front of her, then leant over the back of her seat and took some money out of the bag. She then left the bus, with the child, leaving the bag on the seat where it was originally left.
The victim returned to get her bag a little while later, further along the bus route, and while the bag was on the seat, the money (approximately £45) had gone.
The victim remembers a white man, aged about 20, was sat opposite her while she was on the bus. If anyone has any information they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Local Community Support Officer Amanda Yung has fought off hundreds of other officers to win the Gwent Police Community Support Officer of the Year award.
Amanda will join nearly 200 police officers, staff and their friends and families at the Miners Institute event in Llanhilleth, Blaenau Gwent next Tuesday 22nd May.
The awards give the Chief Constable and the Police Authority the opportunity to thank officers for bravery, determination and hard work which goes beyond the call of duty.

Amanda has been part of the Abergavenny Neighbourhood Team since September 2010 and has been the Community Support Officer for Llanelly Hill and Llanvihangel Crucorney wards and from April 2012 all Abergavenny Town wards.
Amanda has implemented work in Abergavenny such as the Online Watch Link (OWL), Farm Watch and the Senior Citizen Liaison Team.
Amanda was nominated by Sergeant Tony Patey who said; 'Without doubt Community Support Officer Yung is the most appreciated police employee (and I include officers) I have ever met.
'My favourite account is from an Officer who attended at a local farm to follow up information Amanda had submitted about an incident and had to listen to the farmer tell him what a wonderful officer she was for an hour.'
Well done Amanda and we hope you enjoy your night.

From Monday 14th May 2012, Blackwood Officers will be clamping down on illegal parking in an operation targeting illegal parking in and around Blackwood High Street.

The operation has been put in place in response to the increasing congestion and complaints from retailers. Motorists are parking on double yellow lines and occupying loading bays in High Street, Blackwood whilst they leave their vehicles to visit local shops and banks.

Blackwood Neighbourhood Team will be taking a zero tolerance approach towards motorists illegally parked in Blackwood and tickets will be issued to vehicles not adhering to the correct parking regulations, which hold either a £30 fine or a £60 fine with 3 points depending on the offence.

Officers will be distributing leaflets to local shops and residents to educate drivers about any offences they may be committing, and warning them that they will be issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.

Blackwood Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant, Neil Jones, said: "Parking on double yellow lines is illegal and causes an obstruction and an unnecessary risk to other motorists and pedestrians.

"There is adequate car parking provision in the town centre which motorists should be using when leaving their vehicles. We want to remind motorists we are now taking a zero tolerance approach to this issue and over the next couple of weeks, we will be educating drivers about where it is illegal to park, and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices to motorists to reinforce the message."

To contact the Blackwood Neighbourhood Policing Team, please phone 01495 233 966 or e-mail
