Drink Safe, Be Safe

Drinking too much can be extremely dangerous. What starts off as a good night can lead to embarrassment, regret and even harm.

If you're having a drink on a night out make sure you look after yourself and your mates.

Be responsible on your night out:
  • Eat something before you go out.
  • Know when you've had enough and know when to stop.
  • Be especially careful at parties, party measures can be strong.
  • Never leave one of your mates alone when he has had too much to drink. If he needs help, make sure he gets it and stay with him until help arrives.
  • Look out for your mates and stay together.
Be smart on your night out:
  • Don't walk home alone and use a well it route. Keep alert, be aware.
  • If you find yourself in trouble shout 'FIRE' it will attract more attention than shouting 'HELP'.
  • Always keep some spare cash to get home safely and make sure your phone credit is topped up.
  • If you're getting into a 'Taxi' make sure it's licensed. Don't accept a lift from a stranger.
  • Make use of Cab Safe, text 'CAB' to 83222 to receive the numbers of the three nearest cab firms.
Be prepared on your night out:
  • Sex isn't always planned when you're on a night out.
  • If you've been drinking you're more likely to forget your condom. Be prepared, make sure you have some with you at all times.
  • Using a condom protects you from sexually transmitted infection including HIV.
  • If you're worried about anything to do with sex, you can get good advice from any of the listed contacts.
Be Safe on your night out:
  • The most common drug used in drug assisted assault is alcohol.
  • Any drink can get spiked, not just alcohol, so don't leave your drink unattended at ANY time.
  • If you feel odd or unwell in an unusual way tell someone you can trust.
  • In an emergency call 999. Don't panic! If your mate is unwell lay him/her on their side, make sure he/she can breathe and keep him/her warm.
Lets face facts:
  • FACT - 4 out of 5 assaults involve alcohol.
  • FACT - between 60 and 70% of men who assault their partners do so under the influence of alcohol.
  • Stay out of TROUBLE - by staying in CONTROL.
  • Don't become a statistic tonight. Treat your girlfriend, partner or wife with respect.
  • A night to remember should be just that, not something you can't remember or that you just want to forget.
Booze and Fags:
  • If you drink you're more likely to smoke even if just socially.
  • Smoking isn't cool or attractive, it doesn't calm you down. It does give you stained teeth and bad breath.
  • Smoking is expensive and you pay with your health.
Alcohol – the facts:
  • Alcohol is a drug. It will cause you problems if you binge on a night out and will cause long term problems.
  • Strong beers and lagers affect you very quickly, pace yourself.
