Victim of road traffic collision, A40, named

Following a serious road traffic collision between two cyclists and a van that occurred last night (Tuesday July 9th) on the Old Raglan Road (A40), Gwent Police can confirm that one of the cyclists - 26 year old Ben Carroll from Cardiff -has since died.

The collision occurred between the Steelhorse Cafe and the Hardwick Roundabout at 8.50pm, as the cyclists were riding toward the Abergavenny area and the van was travelling in the opposite direction. Another cyclist - a 33 year old man from Abertillery -received minor injuries

Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact them on 101 and quote log number 576 9/7/13
