We’re appealing for information following a report of a road traffic collision in Vale View, Maesycwmmer, at around 1.15am on Saturday 1 October.
Officers attended to assist with traffic management and the collision involved a white Renault Kangoo van which collided with a wall.
Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Serviced also attended and a 31-year-old man from the Cefn Hengoed area, who was driving the van, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he died from his injuries.
He can be named as Aled Angel; his next of kin are aware and are receiving support from specialist officers.
We’re asking anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the Maesycwmmer area – particularly Main Road and Vale View – between 12am and 2am on Saturday 1 October, to contact us.
