Yesterday (Wednesday 6th November 2019), officers from Torfaen Policing Team were working to stop a vehicle as part of an enquiry into the illegal supply of drugs.
During the attempted stop, one of our officers left a marked police car to speak to the driver and passengers and on approaching the vehicle, the vehicle reversed in an attempt to drive away from the scene. The car then collided with another vehicle.
Fortunately, the officer involved sustained minor injuries, and continued to help his team deal with the incident, resulting in three people being arrested for drug and road traffic offences.
An 18 year old man from the Pontypool area was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, being concerned in the supply of drugs (Class B – Cannabis), driving with no licence and no insurance and currently remains in custody.
An 18 year old man from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs (Class B – Cannabis). He has since been released under investigation.
