Road Traffic Collision on Wharf Road in Newport

At approximately 2pm this afternoon, Tuesday 8th October 2019, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Wharf Road in Newport.

The male pedestrian has received life threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

 The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the collision.

Wharf Road remains closed Eastbound and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

Officers are appealing for information from anyone that could help with their enquiries and would be particularly interested in hearing from motorists with dash cam footage who have driven along Wharf Road around the time of the incident.
