Update: Man named following fatal road traffic collision on the M4 – Prince of Wales Bridge

At approximately 10.30am on Wednesday 4th September 2019, Gwent Police responded to a report of a serious road traffic collision. It was reported that a lorry had left the carriageway and gone down onto the embankment and onto land alongside the M4 Westbound at the end of the Prince of Wales Bridge.

The male driver of the HGV lorry was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales, but he was sadly pronounced deceased upon arrival.

We can now confirm his identity as 49-year-old Florin Marius Muntean from Romania. His family have been notified by specialist officers. 

Officers continue to appeal for information regarding this incident and are asking for any motorists who may have dash cam footage from around the time of the collision, to please get in touch.
