Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Marc Budden

Marc joined Gwent Police in 1993. He has worked in each of the five Local Authority areas in a range of different roles but predominantly in neighbourhood, partnerships and specialist operations.

He is a Gold Public Order, CBRN and Specialist Strategic Firearms Commander and was a hostage negotiator for over 10 years. He has commanded a number of large incidents and events both locally and nationally, including the Ryder Cup, NATO Presidential Visit and G20 Summit as well as supporting GMP as the Specialist Strategic Firearms Commander in the days following the Manchester Arena attack.

Marc has obtained a Master’s Degree in Critical and Major Incident Psychology from Liverpool University and is an accredited Managing Successful Programmes change practitioner.

He has three children and enjoys cycling and travelling.
