Assault and Robbery; Lower Graig-Yr-Rhacca – Did you see anything?

We are appealing for information following a reported robbery and assault in Lower Graig-Yr-Rhacca, Caerphilly.


Officers are investigating the incident which happened at approximately 8.15pm on Monday 20th May 2019, on a footpath at the rear of Dan-y-Graig.


The victim had been travelling on the number 50 Stagecoach bus from Caerphilly Town Centre before getting off at the bus stop on Newport Road, Lower Graig-Yr-Rhacca. He was approached from behind by two men who assaulted him before stealing his car keys and house keys.  The man received serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected fractured eye socket and has since been discharged. He is now recovering at home.


Two men, a 25-year-old and a 32-year-old, both from the Caerphilly area have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and they remain in police custody at this time.


Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and are appealing for information to help their enquiries, particularly other passengers on the bus who may be able to assist with information.
