We're appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred yesterday evening, Friday 13th November at approximately 8.35pm.
The collision involved a pedestrian and a black Mercedes AMG C Class and took place on the Machen straight (A468). The pedestrian was walking in the direction of Caerphilly and the car was travelling in the direction of Newport.
The pedestrian, a 30 year old man from Cwmbran, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 25 year old man from the Newport area has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.
Part of road remained closed overnight but has now fully reopened.
