A Blackwood man is serving a 5 year prison sentence after attacking another man with a golf club.
Stephen Peplar, 59, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
The incident took place in June this year on Albany Road, Blackwood.
OIC PC 1856 Gareth Morgan said: "Peplar carried out a horrific, sustained attack using a golf club, fracturing the victim’s skull and hand and causing numerous other injuries consistent with multiple strikes with an object. The victim required two operations and a lengthy amount of time to heal.
"While the sentence will never heal the mental trauma caused to the victim, I hope it provides some comfort, and allows Peplar time to reflect on his actions."
