We’re appealing for information to assist officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Pandy Road, Bedwas at around 1pm on Saturday 25 September.
Officers attended, along with paramedics from Wales Air Ambulance and Welsh Ambulance Service, to assist with traffic management.
The collision involved a bicycle, a Ford Transit and two other vehicles – a Hyundai Tucson and a Vauxhall Vivaro – which were parked at the time.
The cyclist, a 76-year-old man from the Bedwas area, was pronounced dead at the scene by an air ambulance doctor.
A 50-year-old man from Bedwas was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.
Enquiries are ongoing and we’re asking anyone who was in Pandy Road, Bedwas between 12.45pm and 1.15pm to get in touch with us.
We’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who has not yet spoken with officers, to get in contact.
Any motorists who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time of the collision is also urged to come forward.
