The day was a huge success, with great weather, our biggest turnout yet and incredible feedback from those who joined us. We want to say a big thank you to our fantastic communities, it wouldn’t have been such a success without you supporting us.
We' re incredibly proud of the officers and staff that worked so hard to bring the event to you and a shout out to all of our fantastic vendors - we couldn't have done any of it without you.
Throughout the day, we were fundraising for 2Wish – a charity that supports those affected by sudden death in young people. We’re extremely pleased to announce that you raised a total of £2,531.33. What a generous bunch our communities are!
Rhian Mannings, founder of 2wish said:
“A huge thank you to everyone at Gwent Police and the amazing communities of Gwent who raised over two and half thousand pounds for 2Wish. Without the generous donations of people like you, we wouldn’t be able to help families in the Gwent Police area.
“2wish helps families that lose a child or young adult suddenly and it’s by working with Gwent Police that we make sure they get the prompt support they deserve”
Leeanne Husselbee, co-planner for the Behind the Badge open day said:
“Behind the Badge 2022 was a fantastic opportunity for Gwent Police and partners to showcase the many aspects of policing and support agencies who work hard within our communities.
“It was an honour to be able to raise donations throughout the day for 2wish who provide support for those affected by sudden death in young people.”
From demonstrations, to displays and right through to fairground rides, there was plenty going on during the day to occupy both adults and children alike.
Our crafty crook, Bert the Burglar, kept you busy and thanks to all your efforts, he’s behind bars where he belongs! His swag was recovered and some of you were rewarded with some fantastic prizes, congratulations to all the winners.
