A 22-year-old man is receiving treatment in hospital following a report of an assault in Cambrian Road, Newport on Tuesday 19 July.
We received a report of an assault in Cambrian Road, Newport at around 2.40am on Tuesday 19 July.
Officers attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, and a 22-year-old man from the Newport area was taken to hospital for treatment.
His injuries are thought to be serious but he is in a stable condition.
An 18-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of assault and was later charged with section 18 – wounding with intent – and remanded to appear at Newport Magistrates Court on Thursday 21 July.
