We want everyone to enjoy the festive period, having a happy and safe time. We will be running a crime prevention advent calendar from the 1 to the 25 of December with some tips on how to do this.
Within this advent calendar we will be sharing advice from a wide range of teams within Gwent Police, including our neighbourhood policing, crime prevention, roads policing and specialist operations (RPSO) unit, cyber crime experts and many more.
To see what’s behind each door, make sure you follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The festive period is one of the busiest times of year for policing across the UK, there will be an increase of phone calls coming into our force control room which may result in longer waiting times.
Help us be there for the people who really do need urgent assistance by thinking carefully about who you need to speak to.
To report non-emergencies, call 101 or DM us on social media.
In the case of an ongoing incident where there is a threat to life always call 999.
You can also report a crime or suspicious behaviour by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website https://crimestoppers-uk.org/.
To report any issues such as fly tipping, dog fouling or nuisance noise, please contact your local council. Find your local council here.
An alcohol reception centre (ARC) will operate in Newport City Centre on Friday and Saturday nights until the early hours over the festive season. The ARC will look after people who are taken ill or injured and will be able to treat and discharge less serious injuries at the scene. This will relieve the pressure slightly on the NHS.
