We’re appealing for witnesses after receiving a report of a road traffic collision on the A4048, between Peacehaven and Hollybush at around 8.20am on Saturday 15 October.
Officers attended to assist with traffic management, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
The collision involved one car, a silver Mini Cooper which collided with a wall.
The driver, a 34-year-old man from Newport was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment.
He remains in a stable condition in hospital although his injuries are thought to be life changing.
