We’ve made two further arrests following reports of a robbery at a premises in Corporation Road at around 10.30pm on Thursday 17 August.
Four men entered a flat above a commercial property and reportedly threatened a staff member with weapons before leaving with phones.
The member of staff received minor injuries.
Officers attended, supported by specially trained firearms officers and the National Police Air Service (NPAS).
A 27-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and he was later charged with this offence.
A second 27-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and he was later released on bail.
A 34-year-old man from Newport and a 44-year-old man from Cardiff were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.
They were later bailed pending further enquiries.
