Two men have received a combined sentence of 24 years for burglary related offences.
Michael Anthony, 45, and Wayne Wren, 42, both from the Newport area appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday 20 February.
Both men plead guilty to aggravated burglary, false imprisonment and fraud by false representation.
Anthony and Wren were both sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Detective Constable Oliver Morgan, the officer in the case, said:
“Michael Anthony and Wayne Wren had a common purpose to steal from innocent members of the public. We are really pleased with the sentencing in this case, we hope this acts as a reminder to those tempted to engage in such criminality.
"This was a particularly terrifying ordeal for the elderly victim and I would like to thank him for his courage and support throughout the investigation.
"We remain committed to taking action against anyone involved in burglaries and thefts which cause such misery in our communities."
