Geraint Blackman, 22, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday 9 January where he plead guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
PC Trevor Cross from the Serious Collision Investigation team and officer in the case said:
“This is a tragic case that has resulted in the needless loss of two lives and life-changing injuries to another.
“Geraint Blackman’s reckless actions demonstrate the devastating impact driving dangerously at excess speed in poor weather conditions and in an unroadworthy car can have on other innocent road users.
“He was left with no option but to plead guilty owing to the overwhelming amount of evidence gathered.
“Our thoughts remain with the family at this time.”
Blackman has received a sentence of seven years and six months in prison after pleading guilty in court. He is also banned from driving for 10 years and nine months.
