We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A472, near Tredomen at around 2.20pm on Tuesday 6 June
Officers attended, along with personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and Welsh Ambulance Service, and the collision involved a van– a white Ford Transit.
The driver, a 56-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
He can be named as Darren Medd; his next of kin are aware and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Any motorists who were travelling on the A472, near Tredomen between 2.10pm and 2.20pm on Tuesday 6 June, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to contact us.
