Officers attended a collision in Cwmbran Drive involving a car and a lorry, where the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
We’re investigating a report of a road traffic collision in Cwmbran Drive, Llantarnam, Cwmbran at around 9.55am on Tuesday 19 September.
Officers attended, along with personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Welsh Ambulance Service, and the collision involved a lorry and a car.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man from the Cwmbran area, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
We’ve informed his next of kin and they’re receiving support from specialist officers.
The passenger of the car, a 45-year-old man from the Pontypool area, was taken to hospital for treatment.
Anyone with information, including motorists who were travelling along Cwmbran Drive between 9.45am and 10am or those with dashcam or CCTV, is asked to contact us.
