The alleged assault took place in the early hours of Sunday 22 September - between 1.50am and 2.15am - starting with a verbal altercation on Cardiff Road, Caerphilly near the HSBC bank, before reportedly escalating on to Park Lane.
Two men are believed to have had a verbal altercation which has led to one of the men punching the other. The victim had serious injuries and attended hospital later that day (Sunday 22 September).
Officers would like to speak to this man and woman (pictured), who were in the area at the time of the assault.
