Officers from We Don’t Buy Crime (WDBC) visited businesses at Brynmawr’s Lakeside Retail Park this week to share information about the steps they can take to deter thieves and protect their businesses from crime.
As part of Safer Business Action Week, we’ve hosted a range of engagement sessions to talk to businesspeople about:
Our activity focused on all areas of business crime, including both cyber and fraud.
Sgt Dan Wise, whose neighbourhood officers joined WDBC for their visit to Lakeside Retail Park on Thursday, said:
“Year-round, we’re committed to protecting retailers and companies against those who seek to gain a profit from crime, or those who put workers’ safety at risk.
“People should never feel fearful when going to work, or when out shopping with family and friends, and we’re continuing to do all we can to tackle anti-social behaviour and hold offenders to account.
“Pleasingly, we’ve seen a reduction in reports of anti-social behaviour in Brynmawr in recent months.
“We’ve recently introduced the new Store Net initiative in the area, which enables shop staff to instantly contact us and the council’s community safety wardens in the event of a crime or antisocial behaviour incident.
“We’ve also secured a number of anti-social behaviour injunctions against a number of individuals who’ve engaged in sustained violent and threatening behaviour in the Brynmawr. These are still in place and designed to prevent the individuals responsible from entering identified exclusion areas and causing further issues.”
