We were called to an address in Perth Court, Blackwood, at around 1.15am on Tuesday 11 February following reports of a disturbance.
Officers attended, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, where a man, 54, was found unresponsive inside the property.
Paramedics later confirmed that the man had died at the scene; his next of kin are aware and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Detective Superintendent Michelle Chaplin said:
“Our investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death continues and we’re currently treating the death as unexplained.
“A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder as part of our initial enquiries; however he was later released from custody with no further action to be taken.
“We will maintain a police presence in the area as we continue to establish what has happened, but we would appreciate any details from the public that could assist our enquiries.”
