Two cocaine dealers were caught red-handed after officers stopped a suspicious car.
Officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis when they pulled over the vehicle in which Corey Gibbons, 22, and Jonathan Tovey, 21, were travelling on Llanwern Road in Newport, on Thursday 31 October.
Officers also searched a property in Lliswerry. In total, we recovered cocaine, cannabis, more than £6,000 cash, mobile phones, a weighing scales and high-value clothing.
Both men, from Newport, admitted to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A - cocaine, possession of a controlled drug of class B - cannabis, and acquiring/using/possession of criminal property.
They were each sentenced to 28 months' imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday 13 January.
Inspector Roland Giles, of Gwent Police, said:
"Drug-related crime is corrosive - it is far from being a victimless way to make money.
"Gibbons and Tovey were only interested in the profits and power of their illegal activities; they did not care about the devastating impact that drugs can have on the vulnerable and their families.
"As a result of these sentences handed down by the court, both men will now have plenty of time to reflect on their actions.
"Illegal drugs have no place in our communities and we will continue to target people involved in these activities as shown by this case.”
If you have any concerns or information about illegal drug supply in your community, we encourage you to report it to us via the website, or by calling 101 or sending us a direct message on Facebook or X, so that we can take action.
