Two boys will appear before a youth court in February after they were charged in connection with the theft of a car in Ystrad Mynach last September.
Officers were called after a car – a Volvo XC90 – was taken from an address in Lewis Street on Monday 30 September at around 6pm.
We were then made aware of a road traffic collision in Gelligaer, involving six vehicles, on the same day.
Among the vehicles involved in the collision were a Volvo XC90, a Ford Transit van, a Ford Focus and Volkswagen Beetle as well as two parked cars – a BMW 525D and a Volvo XC40.
A 15-year-old boy from the Gelligaer area was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.
A Caldicot boy, then aged 14, was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage of £5,000 or over.
He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle on the road or public place without third party insurance.
Both boys were charged with these offences and were given conditional bail.
They will appear before Cwmbran Youth Court on Tuesday 4 February.
