Update: M4 Westbound J26 – reopened following serious RTC

At approximately 5:10am this morning, Thursday 8th March 2018 we received reports of a serious road traffic collision on the M4 Westbound J26.

The incident involved multiple vehicles and a pedestrian near to the Brynglas Tunnels, Newport.

Sadly, we can confirm the pedestrian; a man was pronounced deceased at the scene, enquiries are ongoing to establish his identity.

Two people were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Westbound carriageway was closed for some time whilst emergency services attended to the scene.

All lanes have now reopened; we thank you for your patience.
