Gwent Police is committed to protecting and reassuring its communities and providing the best possible policing service. For us to improve the service we provide it’s essential that we gather as much feedback as possible. This system allows members of the public a quick way of providing honest and transparent feedback about the service they have received.

This online feedback system is one of many forms of feedback Gwent Police uses to understand what we do well and where we need to improve.

Where no supporting comments are added to the star rating, the feedback will be published immediately. Should additional comments be added then there will be a delay in publishing the feedback to allow Gwent Police to respond openly to it. However, Gwent Police reserves the right to amend/delete comments where individuals are identified, inappropriate language is used, or the comments are obviously fabricated.

Contact with a representative of Gwent Police

I would like to thank the two officers who helped me on 1 December when I was lost in Newport trying to get back to Bristol. I had two young children in the car at 11pm. I asked them for help and they kindly went out of their way to drive me back to the motorway! A huge relief. Thank you sooo much

Hello Claire Thank you for your feedback. I'm pleased to hear our officers were able to help. Kind regards

Contact with a representative of Gwent Police

About eight weeks ago my daughter stoped breathing. I rang 999 and asked for a ambulance the lady on the phone talked me through cpr and through the door came a lady and gentlemen. The gentlemen took care of my daughter while the lady reassured me and as a trauma doctor came in did the practical things. She packed a bag for the hospital and was just so kind and reassuring. It was only as we were getting in the ambulance I realised that they were police constables. My daughter spent a week in Hosp and I did try to contact them to say thank you but was unsuccessful.. I would like to say a big thank you on behalf of my daughter and myself.

Hello Wendy Thank you for the positive feedback. I'm pleased to hear our officers were able to provide such a professional service. Best wishes to you and your daughter.

Contact with a representative of Gwent Police

When my family ended up with a rather difficult situation the other day with South Wales Police, we got sent through to a phone call with Gwent police who were absolutely marvellous with the way that they handled it. They gave us really good advice and talked us through our rights so we were aware of what we could then do. Thank you for being so helpful in our situation.

Hello Many thanks for your feedback. I'm glad we could be of assistance to you and your family. Kind regards

Illegal use of quad bikes

I have reported several instances whereby quad bikes are accessing the common green area adjacent to my property in Maerdy View, Rhymney. I have seen no improvement after making these reports and I haven't seen any officers investigating either. I am incredibly concerned about my sons safety whilst these bikes are continuing to access the area also the landscape looks horrendous and has been grossly vandalised by these bikes

Hello Thank you for your feedback. Off road bikes being used on common land are a problem across the country. We have initiatives running across the county at various times throughout the year. I would encourage you to attend your local 'Your Voice' meetings and feed in your concerns. The local priorities are based on the views of local residents.

Unable to get any information from police following an incident

A Car crashed into a field i own on New Years Day and caused a lot of damage to the fencing of the field. When i rang 101 they were able to give me the officer who was came to the call and the log number. But i have tried to ring this officer and left a message on his mobile which has not been returned. I have rung both the Caldicot and Chepstow offices numerous times but no one answers. I have even rung Newport but it is always engaged. This is in my opinion poor service.

Hello Suzanne Apologies you have found it difficult to get hold of the officer who attended your call. Unfortunately officers work a full shift pattern so there may have been days where the officer was on days off or annual leave. I trust you have now been updated and the matter is resolved but I have passed the details onto the local team to make contact just in case. Thank you for your feedback

Service in relation to reporting an incident

Robbery, theft and burglary

I suffered a theft and reported it duly to the Police and my insurer. The advice by your representative at around 08:50 don't disturb anything, leave everything as youve found it (items on the patio, door to garden wide open with broken and missing locks, shed door wide open with broken locks), SOCO will call you shortly and visit today for prints etc. and undertake house to house, After 2,3,4 calls later them am told oh its unlikely Police will attend from their experience, and SOCO should have had least called me .... 11hours and counting no call to me from the Police, 4 calls from me to the Police though - the Rep Megan said (3rd call) at 14:00, that Police will deal with it over the phone, and won't come out- i questioned if they won't come out, how can they undertake house to house enq's - long pause, not from me... How can I rest with items still exposed, unsecured, awaiting SOCO, and being alone with my young son IS NOT very reassuring - yes i've bought new locks, motion alarms etc., but what is important is not just the fact we do have insurance, its the violation, no support from the Police and brush off we are getting, whilst my property is now NOT secure. question: Why would police attend an attempted theft, no persons injured, no property stolen, yet when WE suffer theft, damage to our property, we receive no call, no visit and NO SOCO...when i make this comparison, it is with regards to my sister in laws own experience, she had the police phone and visit....it is disgusting!

Hello Nicola. Thank you for your feedback. Apologies that you did not receive the service you had hoped. I have looked into the details of your shed break and I can see that a Scenes of Crime officer visited the following day, along with officers to complete the house to house enquiries. Unfortunately neither identified any further lines of enquiry. Our Scenes of Crime officers have to respond to incidents according to urgency but we should have updated you if there was a delay. I have passed these details onto the team involved so that this can be fed back.

Unable to make contact

I typed in my post code to find and contact local community police but I only get details of Stow Hill Ward when I live in Allt_yr-yn!!!!

Hello Sandra. Thank you for your contact. Our website is currently being updated so apologies that this section didn't work for you on this occasion. I will feed this into the web team. If you find the 'My area' part of the homepage on our website, there is a drop down list. Allt Yr Yn can be found under Newport and it will show you the members of your local ward, local news, upcoming meetings and your ward priorities. I hope you find this useful.
