i.e. please disclose the number of crimes that were recorded as assaults, the number that were recorded as harassment etc.
To identify if an offence had taken place in a doctor’s surgery or health centre, a manual trawl would need to be completed, as there is no filter which would allow us to identify crimes that have taken place in those types of buildings. There were 3,437 offences recorded in January 2017. It would take 2 minutes to look through each full record to determine where the offence has taken place.
This would take 114+ hours (3437 records x 2 minutes per record / 60) which is over the 18-hour limit and so would be exempt under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
To avoid this exemption, a keyword search has been conducted on the crime summaries using the following terms; ‘GP practice’, ‘GP surgery’ and ‘health centre’.
The results from this search have then been looked through to identify offences which had taken place inside the premises, to the premises, or where the aggrieved are those working within the practice building. This does not include offences which took place in the car park of each premises. This data is reliant on the terms mentioned above being spelt correctly and being included in the short crime summary of each offence.
The data from this can be found in the tables below. The information is based off recorded date and is correct as of 05/04/2022.
The table below shows the number of recorded offences for each year.
