2022/25218 - Crimes concluded because of the age of the suspect
REQUEST
- For the 2020-21 financial year please state how many crime outcomes were concluded by your force because the age of the suspect was under 10, and so below the level of criminal responsibility.
- For each of these crime outcomes please provide me with a table showing (i) the age of the suspect and (ii) the crime associated with that child, which was not pursued because of their young age.
RESPONSE
- For the 2020-21 financial year please state how many crime outcomes were concluded by your force because the age of the suspect was under 10, and so below the level of criminal responsibility.
For the financial year 2020/21 there were 69 recorded crimes with the outcome ‘11. Named suspect below age of criminal responsibility’. Please note that outcomes are completely dependent on what the officer has inputted onto the system, it is a manual process. If they have not manually updated this, then the information would not have been updated and won’t be correct.
2. For each of these crime outcomes please provide me with a table showing (i) the age of the suspect and (ii) the crime associated with that child, which was not pursued because of their young age.

Please note that the six suspects under unknown do not show a date of birth on the system; therefore, we are unable to group them.
