2025/28698 - Data on Burglary and Home Thefts

REQUEST

 

  1. Please provide the total number of “residential (dwelling) burglaries” reported to your constabulary in each month of the last three calendar years: 2022, 2023, and 2024.

 

NOTE: In relation to “residential (dwelling) burglaries” this should include the following offences which I provide along with the relevant Home Office Code:

Burglary Residential (28E)

Residential burglary of a home (28I)

Aggravated burglary – residential (home) (29B) Aggravated residential burglary of a home (28J)

 

NOTE: If the data cannot be supplied by month. Then please provide annual totals for each calendar year.

 

  1. For the burglary reports listed in Q1, please provide a breakdown of the outcomes, on an annual basis for 2022, 2023 and 2024 showing:

 

(a)     The number of cases that were resolved where a person was charged (Home Office Outcome Code 1)

 

(b)     The number of cases that were resolved where a suspect was identified and received some kind of sanction, punishment, diversionary course, or addition to their criminal record, but where they were NOT charged. (Home Office codes, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8)

 

(c)     The total number of other cases not included in (a) and (b). (Home Offices codes  9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21).

 

(d)     Still under investigation.

 

  1. If held, please provide a list showing the variety of items stolen in the 20 most recently reported stolen items as part of these theft offences starting from 1.6.25. If possible, please include the estimated value of each item.

 

  1. Please could you answer questions 1, 2 and 3 again but this time in relation to the following offences, provided below with their Home Office code:

Residential burglary of unconnected building (28M) Aggravated burglary – residential (unconnected building) (29C)

 

  1. Please could you answer questions 1, 2 and 3 again but this time in relation to the following offence, provided with the Home Office code

CLARIFICATION NEEDED FROM REQUESTOR:

 

Please can the requestor clarify what they are looking for in relation to the below question;

 

  1. If held, please provide a list showing the variety of items stolen in the 20 most recently reported stolen items as part of these theft offences starting from 1.6.25. If possible, please include the estimated value of each item.

 

They have not requested data for 2025 only from 2022 – 2024. Are they looking for the 20 most recent items stolen in 2024 e.g. end of December or are they asking for 2025 data with 20 reported stolen items on the 1st June onwards or 20 most recent items stolen to date e.g. yesterday and 20 records previous to that?

 

CLARIFICATION RECEIVED:

 

In relation to Question 3 I am asking for incidents in 2025 - as I'm interested in what has been stolen most recently - as opposed to the data for the previous questions which relate to incidents in 2022 to 2024.
