2025/28715 - Stabbing-Related Incidents in Newport 2022-2024

REQUEST

 

Dear Gwent Police,

 

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please provide the following information relating to stabbing-related incidents in your authority.

 

  1. The total number of stabbing-related incidents in Newport in the past three years in 2024, 2023 and 2022.
  2. How many deaths there have been from stabbing-related incidents in Newport in the past three years in 2024, 2023 and 2022.
  3. How many people have been imprisoned from stabbing-related incidents in Newport in the past three years in 2024, 2023 and 2022.
  4. What has been the average age of people involved in stabbing-related incidents in Newport in the past three years in 2024, 2023 and 2022.

 

CLARIFICATION NEEDED FROM REQUESTOR:

 

Please can the requestor clarify questions 1 and 4.

 

For Q1 are they looking for any crimes related to stabbings (i.e., threats, attempts, stabbed an individual) or only looking for crimes where a person has been stabbed?

 

For Q4 are they after the average age of victims or offenders?
