Freedom of Information Request
Dear FOI team,
Subject: Freedom of Information Request – Vehicle Registration Numbers Linked to Convicted Crimes (2025)
Dear Police FOI Team,
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting the following information:
A list of vehicle registration numbers recorded by your force as being involved in a crime which resulted in at least one conviction, where the conviction was secured between 1 January 2025 and the date of this request.
For clarity:
If providing this information in full would exceed the appropriate cost limit, please advise whether the request could be refined to bring it within scope – for example, by limiting to certain offence types or a shorter time frame.
Please do not redact registration numbers on the grounds that they constitute personal data. When disassociated from named individuals or addresses, and in the context of convicted offences, such data is not inherently identifying and should not automatically fall under Section 40 exemptions.
If you intend to apply any exemption, please provide a full justification as required by the Act.
