Last week, officers conducted three warrants, made 10 arrests and seized cash, vehicles, and drugs, with a street value of over £110,000.
Between Monday 20 May and Sunday 26 May, our Newport neighbourhood policing team were out on additional patrols and hosting events across Alway, Newport, with the aim of tackling offences from drug supply to fly tipping.
On Tuesday 21 May, our officers completed a warrant and seized over £6,000 worth of cocaine and cash. A 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman from the Alway area were arrested and have since been charged on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply a class A drug - cocaine.
They completed another warrant on Wednesday 22 May and a 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of illegal dog breeding, she has since been released on bail.
While on patrols, a car was stopped and was found to contain cocaine and cash. Two 30-year-old men were arrested and have since been charged on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply a class A drug - cocaine, and money laundering.
On Tuesday, eagle-eyed officers sighted two men who were wanted on warrant by the courts. They were both arrested and taken to custody.
Officers also seized two cars and an e-bike for having no insurance, one of the cars was also using cloned plates.
On Thursday evening, officers arrested two 15-year-old boys on suspicion of robbery. A 14-year-old boy was later arrested, also on suspicion of robbery. They have since been released on bail while our enquiries continue.
The team also held several events across Alway, including at the local primary school, where our officers marked the children’s bikes with smart water, helping their safe return if they were ever to be stolen. They also talked to the children about the risks of cybercrime and Fearless.
Our officers met with partners, including POBL, Newport City Homes, wardens, and the environmental health team, where they walked through Alway, establishing how we can support to clean the streets and prevent fly tipping to keep them clean.
Finally, we joined Trading Standards to combat the illegal supply of vapes in local shops and, as a result, further action will now be taken.
During the week of action, 10 arrests were made, with 4 people subsequently charged with their offences.
Officers seized over £110,000 worth of cocaine and amphetamine, cash and three vehicles.
Well done to our Newport neighbourhood policing team for their hard work and determination to keep Alway a safe place for its residents and visitors.
