REQUEST
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act, and I seek information on the level of training provided to assessors for promotions within your police force.
Please state:
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Constable to Sergeant.
- A breakdown of these assessor’s ethnicities.
- How many hours of training these assessors have each received.
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Sergeant to Inspector.
- A breakdown of these assessor’s ethnicities.
- How many hours of training these assessors have each received.
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Inspector to Chief Inspector.
- A breakdown of these assessor’s ethnicities.
- How many hours of training these assessors have each received.
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Chief Inspector to Superintendent.
- A breakdown of these assessor’s ethnicities.
- How many hours of training these assessors have each received.
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent.

RESPONSE
- The number of force assessors who assess police officers for promotion from Constable to Sergeant.
This is Chief Inspector rank and above and HR Staff – The number could be a pool of up to 50 different people at any one time. This is due to a number of circumstances such as staff absence, promotions, secondments, leavers and people in training.
- A breakdown of these assessor’s ethnicities.
We do not have any ethnic minority officers above Inspector at present, but we do have some diversity in our HR Staff
- How many hours of training these assessors have each received?
All would have received a half day training, but many would have received further training from the college of policing
