Aerial footage helps officers seize Sur-Ron electric bike

Officers are acutely aware of the impact that the illegal use of off-road bikes can have on our communities.
Neighbourhood officers in Newport used drone footage to recover a Sur-Ron electric bike in the Ringland area of the city.
Last week, an eye-in-the-sky helped our officers locate where the bike was being kept and they later seized it for having been driven without insurance.
Operation Harley combats the illegal use of off-road bikes in Gwent.
In recent operations in Newport, we seized two Sur-Ron bikes, recovered a suspected stolen bicycle, prosecuted a Sur-Ron rider for driving offences, and arrested a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.
PC Thomas Gardner, neighbourhood ward manager, said:
"Gwent Police is acutely aware of the impact that the illegal use of off-road bikes can have on our communities.
“We will continue to carry out regular operations like this in Newport and across Gwent.
"We need to know where these bikes are being used and stored so that we can seize the machines being driven illegally."
