2021/24568 - SA/Rape investigation complaints

REQUEST

1a) The total number of complainants who have complained about the force’s handling of their allegation of sexual assault or rape in the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and from the beginning of 2021 to the present day. Please can I have this information broken down by calendar year?

1b) For each complainant’s case, please could you provide a description of the complaint in detail. I understand that this will not include any identifying details, but please provide details such as gender and age. Please also set out where the alleged incident occurred more generally e.g. in a park, shopping centre, etc. In instances where this would make the victim identifiable, I understand that this is not information you will be able to provide,

For each individual, please answer the following questions:

• Is this the only complaint the complainant has made?
• What was the original allegation of sexual assault/rape, when did this alleged crime take place and where did it take place (as explained above)

1c) In terms of the police’s dealing with the complainant, please could you tell me:

• What did the force do when they were initially approached by the complainant i.e. phone conversation or meeting in person; how long did these dealings last i.e. how many times did you meet/call and how long did meetings/calls last
• Were any of the following steps taken, for example: CCTV collected, alleged victim’s clothing taken, any witnesses spoken to
• How long did you spend on the investigation overall

1d) For each complaint, please provide in detail the outcome against the force/officers including;

1. i) whether each complaint was upheld or not upheld, and the description under which this fits. For example, this could include (but is not limited to) a finding that there was no case to answer; no further action, or a finding that the service provided was acceptable.
2. ii) whether the complaint involved a misconduct hearing against officer(s) and whether this was held in public or private

iii) what was the final disciplinary result, which could include (but not limited to) officer(s) receiving a written statement; other disciplinary action, or dismissal.
