REQUEST

I’d like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act.

For your information, I already have the data from January 2021 until Feb 2022 under the response of  2022/24980. Please provide an update for the remaining months.

1. How many people have been arrested in the Gwent Police region for drink driving since March 2022? Please provide a monthly breakdown.

2. How many people have been arrested in the Gwent Police region for drug driving since March 2022?

RESPONSE

1. How many people have been arrested in the Gwent Police region for drink driving since March 2022? Please provide a monthly breakdown.

The below data is based on the number of custody records with a drink driving offence. If the person has been arrested for multiple offences they will be counted once however, if they have been arrested for the same offence on multiple occasions, they will be counted for each time they were brought to custody. The Date is based off the arrival date into custody, not the date of the offence.

The following drink driving offences have been included in these figures:

- Drive whilst unfit through drink

- Drive motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit

2. How many people have been arrested in the Gwent Police region for drug driving since March 2022?

The below data is based on the number of custody records with a drug driving offence. If the person has been arrested for multiple offences they will be counted once however, if they have been arrested for the same offence on multiple occasions, they will be counted for each time they were brought to custody. The Date is based off the arrival date into custody, not the date of the offence.

The following offences have been included in these figures:

 - Drive motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit

 - Drive a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs
